Our club doesn’t often receive the opportunity to host a Bowls World Champion but that’s what we will be doing next Wednesday at 1230. MIKE KERNAGHAN was a member of the Four which won gold at the 2016 World Championships in Christchurch ( look at that score!) and he has enthusiastically agreed to chat with…
Laurie Flynn drew on all his 4 years’ experience to beat Phil and take the title. On the way, Laurie toppled the defending champion Chris Macdonald in a nail-biting semi final, 21- 20, while Phil defeated Allen Hutchison.
Ronnie Crone (left) was the skip, Michelle Macdonald lead, Jane Bradbury played at three and Kip Marshall was the two.
Michelle Macdonald emerged unbeaten to claim the title from Nancy McPherson.
Consistently impressive bowls resulted in Craig Walker and Adam Ryan winning the inaugural Junior 2x4x2 at the Raumati BC over the weekend. It was a very successful event and the club thanks all those who participated- from Kapiti, Manawatu, Wairarapa, Wellington and the Hutt Valley. Bowls looks in good heart!
