TigerTurf Mixed Triples 2022
The only comments which might have been construed as criticism during the TigerTurf Mixed Triples, related to the weather.”It’s too hot!”
Two wonderful days featuring 28 teams, some high class bowls and a nail biting final, plus great food and company. All teams played four qualifying matches on the first day, with the Raumati team of Lois Silvester, Ben Warren and Mike Simeonoff topping the table. But it was another Raumati combination which made the final at the end of the second day and held the spectators’ attention throughout.
Heather Simpson led for Reg Goston and Neal Pritchard in the final which had prizes of $1200 for first and $600 for second. Their opponents were the composite triple of Gill Oliver, Stacey Thomas and Shane Duncan. With nine of the 12 ends played, the score was 6-6. Duncan’s team looked to have grabbed control when they picked up a 4 on the tenth end. With his last bowl of the eleventh end, Pritchard played a perfect trail to grab 4 shots and level the scores at 10-10. On the final end, Duncan drew the shot with the final bowl of the tournament to grab the title.
It was a worthy final for a terrific event.
