Tiger Turf Tournament 2021

After months of planning and a postponement last April because of Covid, the inaugural TigerTurf tournament was played over the weekend of 13-14 February.The format was a Mixed Triples 2 bowls competition with four games of 13 ends each on the first day to determine positions for the second day.The top section winners, who met in the grand final, both came from the Johnsonville Club with the former New Zealand representative, Rob Ashton (pictured on the right), skipping Brent Stubbins and Lui Hare to a win over the Amer family- Mum Debbie and sons Logan and Brady.The play off for third and fourth was a nail-biter. Eventually Stokes Valley scored the necessary shot on an extra end to defeat Waikanae.Terrific weather and a lot of fun with many teams already booking their spots for next year.
