Passing of Life Member Russ Wilkins
It’s with deep sadness that the club informs you of the passing of Russ Wilkins.
Russ was an outstanding club member for over 30 years and epitomised the volunteer character of our club. He was not just a good player, but he devoted innumerable hours of volunteer labour using his building skills. His knowledge of the game saw him appointed a Kapiti Centre selector for many years and he was an influential club coach. Russ was on our Match Committee for 15 years, an umpire for 12 years, club selector, club captain and, as you might imagine, a cheerful barman.
Russ was made a Life Member in 2020 and, up until his health deteriorated, he was a regular attendee of Friday night drinks telling many stories.
The flag is at half-mast in recognition of his passing and the valuable contribution Russ Wilkins made to the Raumati Bowling Club.
