The club hosted a group of players from the Kia Toa Bowling Club in Hastings over the weekend. While conditions for play on Saturday morning were unpleasant, the BBQ and entertainment on the Friday night was top notch. President John invited former television colleague and Fair Go presenter, Kevin Milne, to join him in a light hearted Q and A session. There wasn’t much that was serious and everyone seemed relaxed when Kevin advised the members that his pet pig-which became famous in the Vodafone television ads- would live out his life in peace and contentment…and never become bacon!
Consistently impressive bowls resulted in Craig Walker and Adam Ryan winning the inaugural Junior 2x4x2 at the Raumati BC over the weekend. It was a very successful event and the club thanks all those who participated- from Kapiti, Manawatu, Wairarapa, Wellington and the Hutt Valley. Bowls looks in good heart!
Trudy, Kathy, Maureen & Lynn Congratulations Congratulations to Trudy Nicholson’s four who have won the club title for 2019-20. The competition had been postponed because of Covid-19 lockdown but the gentle winter conditions proved ideal for a late completion of the event. Trudy’s team was Lynn Carter, Kathy Edney-Meechan and Maureen Gestro.
In the singles it was a case of the determination and skill of experienced player Ted Marshall just giving him the edge over Mike Harvey. It was a thrilling match during which neither player could gain any ascendancy. There were just two points separating them at the end. Congratulations Ted.
