The club was packed for the launch of Past President John McBeth’s book “It’s Over”.
There was much laughter amidst some quite serious talk from Grant Nisbett, Keith Quinn, Kevin Milne and Joseph Romanos. They all responded well to the MC Mike Copeland and told stories of their long association with John. Looking around the tables you could spot ex All Blacks Allan Hewson and Mark Shaw, Wellington Lions Rugby Centurion, Butch Phelan, the former head of the World Drug Agency, David Howman and the outstanding football commentator Jason Pine. There were lots of others, including Laurie Flynn who nabbed John’s autograph!
