Congratulations Audrey Bronze Medal Winner 2023

Audrey Stevenson played superbly at the recent Summerset National Champion of Champion Singles in Hastings and emerged with a bronze medal.

Competitors were required to win 3 of their four matches to qualify for post section play. Audrey emerged from the qualifying rounds unbeaten and scored an impressive win over the eventual winner, Brian Atkinson of Paritutu. This was Atkinson’s only loss of the tournament and the score of 21- 15 was a fair reflection.

In the semi finals Audrey lost to recent Commonwealth Games medallist and 2022 national singles champion, Nicole Toomey.

It was a memorable event for Audrey and perfectly illustrated that bowls is a game in which seasoned players can definitely match the young guns.

It’s great to see the Raumati Blues appearing so well in the national scene!!!!
