Champ of Champ Triples Winners 2021 -22

Congratulations A great win on a rain interupted day.

There was unexpected but deserved success for our club champion Men’s Triples combination at the weekend.  

Skipped by Neal Pritchard with Reg Goston at two and club President John McBeth leading, they won the Bowls Kapiti Centre Champion of Champions title.   Perhaps feeling comfortable on their home greens, the Raumati team accounted for Waikanae 18 -17 in a nail biting first match. That close result did not suggest they would then go on to beat the well-performed teams from Paraparaumu Beach and defending champions Paekakariki later the same day to book a place in the final.   Rain delayed the start to the grand final against Eddie Irving (s), Brian Woolston and Gary Wylie from Central. Rain then caused a two hour break when Raumati was leading 11-7 after 8 ends. The lengthy pause in play did not adversely affect the Raumati players who extended their lead to 18-7 five ends later and eventually took the game and the title by 20-14.   At about the same time as the game ended, the rain stopped and the sun broke through!  

For Reg (right) it is his 21st Centre title, Neal now has 8 and for John (left) it is his first- hence the grin which has remained on his face all week.
