Centre Women’s Triples Winners

It’s been a superb start to the season with a team from our club winning the centre Women’s Triples.

Skip Ronnie Crone (right in the photo), lead Michelle Macdonald (centre) and two Jane Bradbury played exceptionally consistently to overcome Paekakariki in the semis and then defeat the Paraparaumu Beach combination of Jean Crafts, Carol Rolton and Denise Graham in the final.

The event was staged at the Home of the Blues but was severely disrupted by rain on the first day and strong winds on the second. For the finals day the weather was much more favourable.

Next weekend it’s the turn of the men.

There were some nailbiting finishes to some post section games in the Mixed Fours Championships.
One match went to an extra end and two of the three games saw the teams which had a score advantage entering the final end, lose.

Women’s Singles winner – Pat Taylor won with Heather Simpson runner-up. 

There were 5 qualifiers – Pat, Bev Lang and Jane Bradbury had first round byes.  Heather Simpson defeated Sue McFarlane 21-19 then Jane Bradbury 21-18 to reach the final.  Pat defeated Bev Lang to take the other finals spot.   Pat’s extensive experience took her to another Singles Title – well  done to all participants – a hard fought competition.
